Biography

Peñuelas, Puerto Rico, November 19, 1963. Coming from a family with artistic tradition. His maternal grandfather was a student of Don Miguel Pou teacher and a good portion of his relatives have been linked to art. This family really exposed him as a child to art.

Initially self-taught training received individualized instruction and techniques of artists such as Ivan Rosario, Moises Castillo and Torres Wichie. Eventually studied formally at the Columbia University Center, the School of Art of Puerto Rico, Inter American University of Puerto Rico and the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico. In these institutions was taught by the artists Nilda Rivera, Yvette Cabrera, Vanessa Hernández Gracia, Eric French and Damari Burgos, among others.

His work has been exhibited in his native country and in the United States, Spain, Chile, Cuba, Argentina, Ecuador, Honduras and the Dominican Republic, among others.

Columbus has given workshops, lectures and courses at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, San Juan School of Interior Design and the School of Fine Arts Honduras.
